Great photography spots in Manchester

I've always loved photography, as a child I would create my own photo albums filled with pictures taken on disposable cameras & vividly remember tagging along with my Grandma as she completed work for a photography course she was taking when I was probably around 8 or 9.

When the world fell apart last year, I needed something to keep my busy & give me an excuse to get out, so I finally bought myself a camera. I'd been thinking of getting one for years, but I always talk myself out of big purchases, so turns out I needed a global pandemic to allow myself to explore my passions...

Anyway...

Here's some locations in Manchester I've loved taking pictures of in the last year & a half - and if you fancy following along my amateur photography journey, you can find me on Instagram at @stevieburrowsphotography

City Centre

If you're into street photography - there's no better place than the city centre, the Northern Quarter & St Annes Square specifically offers some wonderful backdrops. The Royal Exchange frequently decorates their entrance area for key dates throughout the year, such as for Lunar New Year like below!

Peel Park in Salford

is beautiful, especially in Autumn - these photos are taken from a gorgeous path that overlooks the park by the side of The Old Pint Pot. It's so peaceful & serene and I just love water reflections in photography.

Media City

is one of the most popular photography spots in Manchester, and it's not difficult to understand why...

This building (which I still don't know what it actually is, despite having lived in Salford for over 3 years and visiting Media City very frequently within this time) is one of my all time favourites. The different reflections you can capture in the building depending on the sky/time of day is just wonderful.

Worsley, Salford

If you're looking for somewhere that fits more of a cottagecore vibe, Worsley is a must. As a proud Manc I absolutely adore canals & the areas surrounding the Bridgewater Canal in Worsley are so picturesque. It's such a wholesome vibe.

Castlefield

Speaking of the Bridgewater Canal, here's a different view of it. This is Castlefield - same canal, just a different part. This is a gorgeous part of the city centre that I definitely don't visit nearly enough. It's a much different vibe, but equally as stunning, just a lot more 'industrial' in terms of the surrounding architecture.

Have you visited these spots before? Where are your favourite/recommended photography spots in Manchester?
